Rock Band Authoring
You send us the music, we author the song, you get paid.
You’d have to travel far and wide to find someone who doesn’t love strapping on a plastic Les Paul and kickin’ it with their favorite band. Thanks to Rock Band and the engineering geniuses at Harmonix software, Craigman Digital is proud to offer Rock Band authoring to its clients to get your music on the Rock Band Network.
You send us the music, we author the song, you get paid.
To deliver a song to Rock Band, the first thing we need is the music. Rock band performers play guitar, bass, keys, they sing vocals, and they play drums. If the performer makes a mistake, then we don’t hear their instrument until they get back in the groove. For that reason, we start with music stems – individual mixes of each instrument as they will sound in the song. We start with stereo stems of the guitar track, the bass track, the vocals and the drums. Mono mixes of kick drum and snare drum are also required. Of course, most songs have more than just these four instruments playing along, so one last stereo stem of all the remaining instruments (horns, backing vocals, etc.) is needed to make the song gel.
When we author a song, each note played by the instruments and the vocalist are tracked and assigned a music gem (the colored bits that fly by as you play the song). Every note is authored into the song and tracked to the corresponding buttons on Rock Band instruments. Then each instrument is authored for each level of difficulty in the game: easy, medium, hard and expert.
Character animations, lyrics and venue actions are also authored into the game. The liveliness of the bassist, the drum that the drummer is using now, the intensity of the crowd and the light show in the performance venue are all authored into the song to make a unique and exciting experience for fans playing the game.
Once the authoring is complete, a price is established for each song (by you), and it is published to the network. You earn money for each download, and you gain exposure to a wide range of fans in a way you’ve never reached them before.
