The advent of high-speed internet and downloadable video has dramatically changed the ways in which content providers distribute their products. Online digital content threatens to completely replace physical entertainment product in as few as five years. Apple’s iTunes Store, Google Video, Netflix, Crackle, Vimeo and YouTube contain vast resources of video content for consumption by a hungry viewing public. How do I offer the best quality video that can be distributed to multiple DSPs for use on multiple platforms?

In 2003, Craigman Digital began development of its Video Archive & Encoding system for just this purpose. In order to ensure that your video retains as much of its master quality as possible, some preprocessing may be necessary. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that up to 80% of video assets need preprocessing in some form or another in order to meet most DSPs’ standards.

Craigman Digital’s VAE solution ensures that your video will look and sound as best as they possibly can when they reach your customer – no matter what the format. As we approach our 10th anniversary of our first digital video delivery bundle, we have moved from delivering 5 or 6 videos per week to well over 100 videos per week. Our workflow and QA processes enable us to boast a DSP rejection rate of less than 0.1%, and our project tracking capability allows us to trace errors, notes and reports on every single video we process.

Our process is streamlined by a proprietary content management and production application we call the Beehive. The Beehive ingests video projects, creates tasks for each project and distributes those tasks to members of our team. Tasks appear in our team’s work queue, and each project’s status can be modified and monitored in real time as it flows through production. Clients can log in to the Beehive, monitor projects and tasks, update status, read notes and warnings and see whether their project is on time.

From start to finish, our VAE process is designed for high efficiency and low failure, and it is a very low cost solution for delivering your content to your clients on time.
